Restrained, data-dense, calm and efficient. The most terminal-like of the five.

Zerodha is one of the five popular Indian stock brokers we compare. Below is what it currently charges on a demat and trading account: brokerage for delivery, intraday, futures and options, the yearly account maintenance charge (AMC), DP charges and the account-opening fee, plus a worked example so you can see the real cost of a trade rather than just the headline "zero brokerage" line. All figures are benchmarks you can check against the official contract note.

Other charges to know about

The headline brokerage is not the whole story. These are the extra charges first-timers get surprised by. They exist at every stock broker and the exact amount changes often, so treat this as a checklist of what to look for and confirm each figure against Zerodha's official charges schedule before you rely on it.

Call and tradePlacing an order by phone through the dealer desk instead of the app, charged per executed order.
Intraday auto square-offIf you do not close an intraday position in time, the broker squares it off for you and charges a fee for that order.
Pledge and unpledge (margin / MTF)Using shares as collateral, or buying on Margin Trading Facility, carries a per-ISIN pledge and unpledge fee, and MTF also charges daily interest on the funded amount.
Payment gatewayAdding funds by UPI is usually free, but net banking or some instant transfers can carry a small per-transaction gateway fee.
Physical delivery of F&OLetting a stock futures or options position expire in the money can trigger physical settlement, which costs far more than a normal exit.
Demat AMC tierAMC can depend on your holdings. A Basic Services Demat Account (BSDA) can be zero AMC below a holdings threshold, above which the standard AMC applies.
